Description

It is a lamp that simulates light bulbs with the use of transparent/translucid filaments and a unique light bulb (gu10) located in the base of the lamp (present).

It requires some work beyond just printing but I tough we are supposed to be makers not just printers XD.

Keep in mind that not all filaments are capable of keeping the light in and you will be able to see it coming through as you can see in the base (glitter filament). I would advise a test with a simple box since it really needs to be opaque in the tree. Silk filaments tend to be this way in case you want to be sure. I have used smartmaterials3d PLA iris Topaz.

In my lamp I have both pla and petg transparent filaments. All working great. Maybe the petg filaments emit a little more light.

There are copies of the same parts with diferent diameters for the filament holes and there is a test that you can print to select the right one (1 dot 1.9, 2 dots 2.0, 3 dots 2.1).

I strongly encourage you to give it a try. It takes work but the end result is super cool and knowing that those “light bulbs” are filament splices in diferent colors is amazing. It is a pity that either my phone camera or my inhability to take good pictures prevents you to see what I am seeing.

Bill of materials:

  • GU10 Led light bulb.
  • GU10 ceramic socket.
  • 3 zip ties.
  • Cable.
  • 2 luster terminal or some other device to connect cables.
  • M3x10. 2 units.
  • M3x14. 4 units.
  • 1 male plug (adecuate to your country).

*All printed parts are place already in the right position to be printed. No supports are requiered. Add a considerable brim to the tree since only a small surface contacts the bed
