Description

30mm wide slim purge chute and basket system for placing your printer right up against the wall

Description

This is a somewhat niche design for those with printers up against the wall and have the printer placed on steel shelving. It provides:

  • Magnetic mounting via a separate mount that can accept thick magnets (~20mm) or multiple thinner ones (8x ~3mm)
  • Self-aligning basket mounting to aluminum extrusions.
  • Steeper 35 Degree angle for more reliable purging.

The goal of all of this is to mount the damn thing securely at the back and not have to touch it regardless blockages and to empty the bin. Using adhesives to mount such a long chute (~285mm) means its a huge pain when it comes to moving the printer out for maintenance. The overkill amount of magnets ensures you can reach around back and scrape off any stuck purges without it shifting alignment, and remove it entirely during maintenance.

* If you do not require a slim chute almost every other poop chute design will be more reliable!

Dimensions

Chute has a base of 280mm, when factoring the printing angle, it is effectively 300mm long.

The guard rails have a height of 40mm. If aligned perfectly with the poop chute of the machine, it will extend ~50mm past the left edge and sit ~10mm below the level of the printer. Use the included STEP files to modify for your specific needs.

Assembly

Magnetic Support

The provided STL has 3.2mm deep holes of diameter 8.25mm with a 0.4mm gap so there is no chance of the magnets scratching the rear of the printer. Add a pause at 3.6mm to insert them. Otherwise edit the included STEP file to whatever specs you need. Apply adhesive to the top of the mount, and then mount the chute. The Aux support can be used if you have the space for an even more secure mount.

Basket & Basket Mount

Both basket and mount has four 2.2mm deep holes of diameter 8.25mm with a 0.4mm gap each. Add a pause at 2.6mm to insert them. Don't forget to ensure opposite polarity for them to attract together once printed. Otherwise edit the included STEP file to whatever specs you need.

Other Notes

  • The basket has 2mm thick walls (so print using 5 walls with a 0.4mm nozzle). My previous designs with 1mm thick walls cracked after repeated use as the magnetic alignment tends to bash it against the steel sides of my shelving.

**User error on my part!** I might be missing something, but there does not seem to be any holes for the magnets. I'll add them via the STEP files, but thought you should know.

Heyo! Thanks for the interest! I can confirm that both STEP and STL files has the 8mm holes. Just to clairify, the magnets are embedded in the print. Between the print bed and magnets is 0.4mm, or 2 layers if your layer height is set to 0.2mm. I've also added a no holes version for convenience.

works great! I actually mirrored mine to shoot out the right side of the printer since I have my x1c up against a wall on the right. thank you!

las cacas se colapsan y enbotellan, habría que hacerlo más ancho.
