To celebrate the announcement of a new Star Wars film in production I have modeled the DL-44 blaster.
The DL-44 was a powerful, highly modifiable and accurate blaster pistol. It packed a heavy punch compared to other pistols without losing accuracy, which made it a prime choice among many groups and individuals, ranging from smugglersand bounty hunters to military and the Rebellion. This is a Toy.
Aside from being a powerful and reliable sidearm, the weapon had other attractive features such as a vibration system built into the hand grip that pulsed gently to alert the user that the weapon had only five shots left, and the ability to charge a bolt twice as powerful into a capacitor without damaging the sidearm. Like most hand gun, its gear typically included a motion-sensitive scope and galven circuitry that allowed the pistol to deal more damage with a normal energy drain and fire rate.

This model has been split into various sections for a manageable printing experience. Each section should fit together nicely after printing, print the pistol grip facing upright, the lower section facing upright, the top section lying horizontal on the print bed and the two muzzles facing upright.Print with a medium to high infill for added strength. Print at 200 microns. You can finish the model using a can of black spray paint with silver guilding wax.

I was still calibrating My Printer when I printed the parts, plus my Z axis is pretty small so I had to slice the model down the middle and join it all up with ABS Juice. Printing this taught me a lot about my printer :-)
