This is a 1/32 (Gauge 1) model of a tank wagon in use in Europe after WWII. It's an American (USA-TC) tank car fitted for the European railways with buffers and hook couplers. It was used to carry fuel after the battle of Normandy. After the war they stayed in Europe and many of them were used by petroleum companies, mainly in France and in the neighboring countries. Some restored in their original state are in display in the Technik Museum Speyer in Germany.
The tank is about 35 cm long and the wagon with buffers about 40 cm.
The small objects are printed at 0.1 mm layer height and the bigger ones at 0.2. Everything is printed in ABS on a heated bed (100°C) coated with a 3D adhesive spray. The tank half's are printed vertically with a 5 mm brim. Some parts need support : 10, 18 and 26. The right frame (02) might need support depending on its position on the bed. Printing the ladder is a bit tricky. Best result is obtained printing it sideways with 0.1 mm layer height and a relatively low speed (the rungs tend to break at high speed). Post-Printing Before starting to assemble the wagon, check if all pieces fit together. Some may need some sanding/filing/drilling to match the specs. Holes have been a bit oversized at design time but still may need some drilling as the printers tend to print holes smaller than expected. The holes in the axle bearings must be drilled with a 3.2 mm bit to get a smooth rotation of the 3 mm axles (I'm using 3mm steel rods 67 mm long). The chassis is in two parts and consists of a long cantilevered beam. You can assemble it with 3 mm screws. For a better rigidity, it's better to glue the 2 parts together (For ABS I use High pressure PVC glue and for PLA super glue or UHU Endfest 300). The 2 half's of the tank are assembled with a coupling ring. You can glue the ring to the tank half's. Once both are ready screw the frame to the tank with six 3x25 mm screws, inserting the items 03 and 07 between the two and items 26 under the left beam. Then you can glue the 2 domes (the one with the manway - 08 - is on the left). Then glue items 10 & 11 on the domes and 13 on the hatch. The handle 25 is glued on the left dome. The catwalk and the ladder are also glued on the tank. The buffer bars are screwed on the frame with two 2x8 mm screws. The buffers and the hook are glued. The bogie parts can be assembled with two 2x8mm screws (or glued). You can use LGB coupler.
