Fully functional Scale model of Theo Jansen's Strandbeest
So if you like toys, scale models, assembling complicated mechanisms and have an idle 3D printer, set it to max resolution and give it a go.
This is a fully functional scale model of one of Theo Jansen's machines. I have substituted wind power by the energy stored in an elastic band, also the bars are not as slender as in Jansen machines (they'd be to thin to be printed).
The model has more than 200 parts that move. You will need a cutter and some instant glue to assemble it. Also, some fine grit sandpaper and some silicon based lubricant will help the joints to get swift movement.
I'd love to have any feedback of you if you spend your time printing and assembling the device: gcon114@gmail.com
This print is made on MakerBot Replicator Fifth Generation. The dimension of the model 100mm x 65mm x 25mm, Infill 10%, with support and layer high 0,2. Provides very nice results!
