3D model description

This is the Sorceress. She is a stylus/pen holder and an ornament in her own right. She was a great deal of fun to sculpt and a challenge to ensure details and expression would translate to a 3D print. I've tried to design her so anyone can achieve a decent result even if they don't have access to a top end printer. I hope I've been successful.

Her structure is solid enough with sufficient definition and detail that she scales up and down well. In my mind, her perfect height is 18cm (gold and red models, holding the stylus), however she has been printed as small as 11.5cm (silver model) and 10cm. I would love to see a really large print of her.

I have included two files. one scaled at 180mm and the other at 11.5cm. However, there are applications like Netfabb and Meshmixer which will allow you to scale her as you wish.

She prints WITHOUT SUPPORTS!

She was printed on an Original Prusa i3 MK1 with a 0.4mm nozzle. I have not tested her with a larger nozzle.

Hawk 3D proto(a UK based supplier of 3D printers, consumables and filament) kindly tested her for me on a Zotrax V10 and ZYYX+. I am very grateful that they were able to help me. Go say hello:

@HAWK3DPROTO

and check out their stuff:

She has only been tested with PLA and HTPLA V3, although she should work well with other materials.

Golden Sorceress

Height: 18cm
Filament: Atomic Gold 1.75mm PLA
Layer height: 0.15mm
Infill: 22%

Red Sorceress:

Height: 18cm
Filament: Atomic Dark Cherry Red 1.75mm PLA
Layer height: 0.2mm
Infill: 22%

Silver Sorceress:

Height: 11.5cm
Filament: MeItink Silver 1.75mm PLA
Layer height: 0.2mm
Infill: 22%

This is my first public release "pay for" model. Don't worry, I will still design and release free work and by purchasing the Sorceress you will enable me to devote more time to that.

The license for the Sorceress is for personal not commercial use. However, if you wish to use the Sorceress commercially then contact me via Twitter (@loubie3d) and we'll work something out.

3D printing settings

She does print without supports but you will need plenty of cooling(if printing with PLA). Her main danger areas are her bottom, hands and chin.

I would not recommend a layer height greater that .2 at the standard or smaller scale as she has lots of nice detail which benefits from finer print settings.

I recommend that you print with at least 3 perimeters/shells to ensure a good surface. She has lots of wide curved surfaces and you want to avoid holes. Related to that, a reasonable infill should be used (I used 22%).

This model uses a lot of retraction and the smaller you print her, the greater that will be, particularly with her fingers so bear that in mind
