I made this charm to fit in my Medium Silver Living Locket from
Origami Owl. Based off the Public Domain "
International Breastfeeding Symbol" by Matt Daigle, it represents mother and child and helps me feel motivated to keep up all those late night nursing sessions. : )
This version of the charm is thick, so other charms will not sit on top of it, but you can have charms on either side of it (There is also a
version that is thin like a plate, so other charms can layer on top of it). I currently wear mine with birthstones for my two sons. As a lucky coincidence, the
Pearl (Birthstone for June) fits perfectly inside the baby's head.
My original plan was to prototype in plastic and then print in the more expensive silver, but I ended up loving the versatility of the colors in plastic. The metals are beautiful as well, but as a heads up the Living Lockets have magnets in them which I have found to attract the Raw Bronze and Polished Gold Steel Charms.
If you don't have an Origami Owl Living Locket, I also have a standalone pendant version. : )
Finally, for the aspiring modelers out there, I outlined my process and linked to tutorials that helped me out quite a bit (many of them from Shapeways) on my blog--
