3D model description

In the spirit of pentominos and hexiamonds, a tetra-rhomb is made up of 4 rhombic dodecahedrons, connected face to face. The rhombic dodecahedron is one of the few regular solids besides the cube which will tessellate space. There are 28 tetra-rhombs, with 14 of them planar (the centers of the four dodecahedrons are on the same plane) and 14 of them non-planar. The 14 planar tetra-rhombs can form a tetrahedron, as can the 14 non-planar tetra-rhombs, but this is much harder. All 28 tetra-rhombs can form a great pyramid with a rectangular base. The solutions, and my names for the pieces, are included in the .pdf file.

3D printing settings

Print with 0.2mm layer height, supports are needed for some pieces. To allow any piece to fit into the "clamp" pieces, the pieces have a 0.2mm offset. I suggest printing the planar and non-planar pieces in different colors. The dodecahedrons have a diameter of 2cm. This can be re-scaled, but it may affect offset amounts.
