3D model description

The design:
We designed the clock to be an extraordinary design piece on your wall. The design is very versatile and it is possible to not only make a Solar System Wall Clock, but also pick different color schemes.

We printed it and designed it for us in the color scheme you can see on the photos.

Alterations & Options:
Other possible schemes, that we can imagine (some mock ups are added) are the following:

Blip Clock (like for the board game Space Hulk)
Motion Tracker Clock (like for tracking Aliens)
Sci-Fy Clock (the planets can be painted in the design of your favorite franchises; Wars and Stars)
Radar Clock (to track planes or ships)
Spider Clock (use the grid as a web)

Printing and assembling:
The parts are all numbered and if you print it in the suggested / numbered order, you will always find a spot to stick the next part on the clock.

We used model glue and white wood glue to stick the parts together. Every part fits or clicks in the base plate. The only thing that is not designed to click in something are the planets. When you glue them to the base plate make sure they are centered in the opening.

We used clothespins to make sure that the grid sticks to the base plate.

The clock work and the clock hands are bought by our personal taste. It is possible to pick a standard clock work you can find easy and cheap on amazon or any other store.

The clock can be hung on a wall hook, it has a reinforced hole in the back. There is no stand included.

3D printing settings

The shown clock was printed with a Creality CR10 Smart and a build plate of 30x30cm / 300x300mm. It is definitely possible to scale the model down in the slicer to fit smaller printers. Maybe you need to make the hole where the clock work goes through a little bigger then...

Printing settings:
- slicer: Cura
- layer height 0.35
- no supports needed but at the middle dome (or you change the orientation)
- printed in PLA (in our case)

Tips:
- the numbered grid sets i.e. all files from grid set 02 should fit on the build plate together
- all rings can be printed at the same time
- almost all planets can fit together on the bed
