3D model description

In this discription you will learn how to cast onroad tires for your rc car by your own.

The outer diameter of the wheel is 75mm and the widht is 40mm.

For the rim you can use pla or petg.
For one tire you will need 60g black sanitary silicone and 20g food starch.

Use gloves, a big spatula and a even surface like a metal sheet. Do this only on a
well ventilated place.

Step 1
Print the rim with supports. But make sure the supported angel is set to 80 degrees. So only the inside and the bottom of the mesh will supported. Otherwise lots of holes of the mesh will supported too, but that's not neccesary.

Step 2
Print the 4 parts of the mold. Use supports for the outsides, same play with the degrees.

Step 3
Place the rim into the bottom part of the mold. It has a little edge to center the rim.

Step 4
Mix the silicone with the food starch with the spatula on the flat metal sheet.
You will have 5 to 10 minutes to work with the mixture.

Step 5
Press the mixed silicone with the spatula into the mesh of the rim. No problem if some parts get black, it can be removed later easily.

Step 6
Fill the outside parts of the mold on the inside with silicone, a bit more, don't be to stingy.

Step 7
Press all mold parts together, don't forgett the top part finaly.

Step 8
After about 1 hour of waiting, the silicone will be dried and you can demold your wheel.

Step 9
Peel off the spare silicone from the wheel and mold.

Note:
Look at the direction of the outside parts of the mold. The profile should look into the same direction ;-)
If you make four wheels for one car, so make sure you have two profiles in the left direction, and two in the right direction.

Have fun ;-)

PS: The tire.stl you won't need.
