3D model description

VHS Fridge Magnet and Keychain.

I designed this model from the ground up. Originally, I made them to sell at my booth at the conventions. However, a few people in 3D printing community have been asking for the models, so here they are.

The model prints in 4 pieces.
1. Common Top. This piece is used for either the magnet or the keychain.

  1. Black Tape Reels
  2. White Tape Spools

4a - Fridge Magnet bottom. this has holes for 1,2 or 3 3x5mm magnets. I did this because some of the magnets I was getting weren't as strong, so I needed to be able to adjust the amount used without having to reprint models.

4b - Keychain bottom. This part has a small ring to attach a keychain to.

Additional Parts / Supplies you will need to make these complete.

  1. Clear plastic insert. I've used plastic from card holders, 3 ring binder inserts, left over plastic from electronics packaging. Basically, anything that is clear. Just cut a small rectangle to insert as shown in the pictures.

  2. Keychain Rings. I sell these so I buy them in bulk, but any keychain ring will fit. I print them in petg because of the keychains possibly being in direct sun in the car at times, but PLA will work just fine for the magnets.

  3. 3x5 mm neo mini magnets. I superglue them into place and I've had zero issues.

  4. Wood Burning tool Is this completely optional. The model is designed to click together and generally holds together well after assembly. Every once in a while, they won't click tightly, so I just give the join a quick hit with the wood burning tool and never have any issues.

  5. for the labels I use Avery 672 Waterproof Labels (61527). The area between that gets the label is designed with this label in mine, but you can print and cut any label stock to fit.

3D printing settings

in prusa i print these at 140% to get them a nice size.

If you are having issues, maybe check the detect thin walls in prusa or the equivalent in whatever slicer you are using.
The final print size I have found looks and works the best is

Top - X = 63.48mm
Film Reels - X = 49.22mm
White Spools - X = 59.65mm
Keychain Bottom - X = 69.28mm
Magnet Bottom - X = 69.28mm
