3D model description

###THERE IS A NEW VERSION AVAILABLE! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4594344###

Description

This is a swimming crankbait, its optimum weight is somewhere around the 30-40gr range.
Its designed to run in a depth of 0-2 meters. The design offers smooth side to side action.

Instructions

1 - Print both halfs

2 - Insert desired weight in lead into the pockets. weight in the back will make the lure running shallower, weight in the front will let it run deeper

3 - cut a toothpick and use 2 sections where it doesnt taper that are 12mm long, put into the dowel holes and glue both halfs together with 5 min epoxy

4 - Twist some wire ( i use tig filler rod ) to form the linetie and hook hangers

5 - use 5 min epoxy to glue in the hook hangers and line tie

6 - Hang the bait from the linetie and either brush on or dip the bait into UV curing resin, let it drip off so you only have a thin coat and cure it in the sun or under a UV light

7 - Sand the bait as smooth as you want. the resin already makes it near perfect, so minimal sanding is required

8 - Paint the bait to your likings, let the creativity flow

9 - clearcoat it either with another layer of clear UV resin or 2 part epoxy

10 - DONE, go out to your favourite spot and catch some pikes!

Design Process

This bait is based on a well known premium bait, works just as the original!

Versions

V1.0 : Original design
V1.5 : Added Sockets for 7mm eyes
V2.0 : Modified front Lead chamber, added another lead chamber in the front top
V2.1 : Added 2 alignment dowel holes to both sides
V2.2 : Added 2 chamfer to the dowel holes to make insertion easier

Bugs

Versions before 2.1 are hard to align while mating the two shells together, if not 100% aligned, the bait will wander to one side or the other, the dowel holes should prevent this for the most part, still subject to testing, feedback appreciated!
