3D model description

I needed a new float chamber gasket for my Datsun 120Y (B210). The previous one had deteriorated too much and it was hand cut anyway so it had tears and poor holes for various jets etc.

This new gasket was made by scanning the carb on a normal photo scanner and drawing the path in inkscape. then tweaking in the free version of solid edge and finally zapping it with a lasercutter.

I'm using a rather thick gasket due to misalignment of the carb body.

The dark muck on the edges is burnt material from the cutting process. I expect that this needs to be cleaned or it will affecct nozzles and jets.

Feel free to praise me if this works for you and hope the same technique works for other carbs too. remember to protect your (or your pals) scanner glass with a plastic sheet before you stick the carb on it :D

Update:

Gasket is now installed. Works ok.

I have a faulty secondary emulsion tube. It doesn't seat properly. This causes the secondary body to stand proud. This means I had to cut this gasket slightly to accomodate.

The design has been tested on an other carb without this fault and it seats ok.

Also extra reminder to scrape the edge of the gasket to get rid of the burnt material to prevent clogging.

I also fixed the faulty advertising in the name of this thing. Perhaps in the future I'll get to making a printable carb :D
