This is the 23rd expansion parts kit meant to complement my original Star Trek Constitution Class Parts Kit (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3652210), adding parts to support several freighter, transport, and other non-combatant ships from the old FASA Star Trek role playing and combat board game. Most of the ships in this kit are smaller and weirder than others I’ve covered so far, and are sourced from both official FASA sourcebooks and the semi-canonical FASA published Stardate magazine.

All parts in this kit are meant to be cross-compatible with other parts kits I’ve published.

Update 2023-04-13: As with the other kits that use derivative parts from my original Constitution and Miranda class kits, these designs have also been refit with the recently updated saucer, impulse, and nacelle details. The older version of this kit can be found on this Google Drive archive.

See my Cults3d Profile for the full list of parts kits I’ve released so far. Each of these kits includes combined ships and ship parts STL files, along with blender source files used to create them. Ship files should be ready to print. Part files are provided so you can import into your 3d modelling software of choice to combine and modify to easily create your own ship designs. All parts are meant to be cross-compatible between kits.

This kit includes the following ships:

Cle Dan class repair tender

The Cle Dan is a weird one from the FASA Federation Ship Recognition manual. A small ship, it features prominent manipulator arms.

Cosmos Royale class luxury liner

From the FASA supplement, "A Doomsday Like Any Other", the Cosmos Royale is meant to be a large interstellar cruise liner.

Derf class warp tender

The Derf was originally a survey ship in the first edition of the FASA ship recognition manual, but had transformed into a warp buoy tender by the second edition. Included in this kit is a Cage era pre-TOS version, the TOS version, a TMP era upgrade, and an additional TMP era modification that replaced the standard top decks with a Torpedo launcher module.

Grayson class repair tender

A ship from the first issue of Stardate magazine, the Grayson is intended to repair warp beacons. It consists of two parts that can separate in an emergency, and this kit includes both the combined ship, as well as both separate versions.

Immaculata class luxury yacht

The Immaculata, from the second issue of Stardate, is a small yacht.

Kethkin class transport

The Kethkin is another weird one from the 2nd edition FASA ship recognition manual, which is meant to tow two transport container lines from its arms. The ship is included in the kit standalone, as well as a version with containers included.

Mokal class transport

The Mokal is also a strange transport from the 2nd edition FASA ship recognition manual. It’s meant to ‘push’ transport containers. The ship is included in the kit standalone, as well as a version with containers included.

Overfield class freighter

The Overfield is another ship from the first edition ship recognition manual that never made it to the second. It’s a large freighter.

3D printing settings

Notes on scaling and working with Blender

My target scale for all source files and output STL files is 1:1000, However, I generally recommend 1:2500 or smaller given the detail level of the model. Although these files have not been extensively tested through printing, they are intended to be resized to match common modelling and miniatures scales.

Blender

Blender is free, which to be honest was the primary factor in my decision to learn it. There are many fine video and text tutorials available online if you're interested in learning more. For a basic tutorial on moving and joining objects in Blender(which should be the minimum you need to know when working with these parts), see this instructables tutorial.

You can use File -> Import -> Stl (.stl) and File -> Export -> Stl (.stl) to load or save STL files in blender.

Note: This kit was built using Blender 3.1.

Post-processing STL output

Although all of the STL files included have been tested as valid watertight meshes, joining the parts together and exporting new STL files can introduce small errors that may cause issues with slicing programs. I recommend any STL files you create are checked using a program like Netfabb Basic free edition. Doing a simple "Close All Holes" repair has fixed most of the issues I've run into so far. If you do run into issues with mesh quality, please let me know.
