The Elder Stump is a 50mm tall piece of living terrain, designed to make for a memorable NPC encounter.
"Shards of Yggradsil occasionally splinter and embed themselves in dimensions across the known multiverse. These often manifest as stumps with an extensive root network, and the flora around them seem to thrive splendidly, taking on a subtle violet glow. Indeed, overly healthy, glowing shrubs and flowers and the attraction of non-native Astral Fireflies is a good indicator that an Elder Stump has infected - er - manifested, in the area. The stumps occasionally reveal faces, but rarely talk. It may be possible to communicate telepathically with them, and I've heard of at least three accounts from sorcerers who have allowed themselves to fold into the bark and emerge on the Plane containing the Cosmic Tree herself, though the specifics of how to achieve these are conflicting and not well-documented, though all involve an offering (sacrifice?) of some kind." - Drej'mani, Chronicler of the Cosmic Tree
