UPDATE 29/04/20:

Try to find a cake container where the lower, inner diameter is around 218mm and the upper, inner diameter is around 232mm. The height should be around 94mm on the inside (excluding any volume in the lid). You can use a thick layer of silicone between the container and the side fitting to buffer any size differences.


I was having issues with some of my prints suffering due to "wet" filament. I designed this to allow me to keep my filament dry regardless of how long a print takes. It is designed to attach to the 2020 extrusions of an ender 5.

I bought a plastic cake container that fits most of my filament rolls, designed a part to attach to it, drilled a hole in the side and we were good to go. Use silicone to glue the part to the side of the cake container.

Once the part has been glued, screw a pneumatic adapter into the top and then you can run PTFE tubes from the adapter directly to the hotend/extruder.

Place a small bag of desiccant in the centre of your spool. The spool will rotate freely within the cake container with hardly any friction.
