3D model description

This Japanese joint called "Kawai tsugite" has been invented by an (unknown) Japanese architectural professor 30-40 years ago for testing woodworker's skills.

Shinobu Kobayashi is precisely a Japanese woodworker based in Australia, currently studying Scandinavian techniques in Sweden.
Working in concert with a master cabinetmaker from Denmark, Kobayashi managed to cut this crazy three-way woodworking join.
He found the way of this joint while he was at Capellagarden's school.

As we can't find any details and informations from Japanese joinery books in Japanese, this joint is only known among a small number of Japanese woodworkers in Japan. It is therefore the same with foreign carpenters.
For this reason Shinobu has thought it is better to share by Instagram this time !

I drew this japanese joinery using Fusion360 from this base :

The Fusion360 files are available upon request.

It is one of models from my Japanese assemblies collection which will be presented in a close format and which can be highlighted as interior decoration objects.
