3D model description

These are Gas & Shell Deflectors for the KelTec CP33 target pistol. I tried to make the design coalesce with the flow of the CP33’s surface rather than create an ugly “piece of plastic” sticking out like a shield. The small and medium sizes do a good job looking like part of the pistols design. Of course, use at your own risk. I have no scientific means to test the design, so make no claim as to their merit or effectiveness as an accessory. It’s up to you. They are a contribution to the CP33 community and should not be printed for profit.

They are available in four (4) sizes, small, medium, large, and extra-large.* If need be, use your slicer software to change the size of the deflector depending on the characteristics of your printer and particular filament. Trim as needed.

[*Note that the height of the large and extra-large deflectors will block mounting optics at the charging handle end of the picatinny rail.]

At issue is preventing gas, powder debris, and shells from impacting the shooter’s eyes and face. 22LR is considered a “dirty” round compared to other larger calibers; particularly in a “blowback” firearm where gas and power debris can be more easily “blown” back into the shooters eyes even when wearing shooting glasses.

The KelTec CP33 is most accurate at the range, in competition, or for home defense when used with a pistol brace or utilizing the increasingly popular “cheek weld “technique. Both bring the firearm closer to the shooters face particularly the “cheek weld” with the extractor port just a few inches away from your face. This is less of an issue with traditional extended 2 handed firing.

Left-handed shooters are more at risk since the ejection port is on the right side of the firearm. A competent operator should have mastered the skill of switching shoulders, aiming, and firing for competitive shooting, CQC, and home defense making both left- and right-handed shooters equally susceptible to issues with gas, powder debris, and possible facial shell hits.

Influences on size selection
A. The design of your shooting glasses and shape of their lenses’ will influence your
size selection. The more coverage around the sides, nose and bridge, and distance
under the lens and between your cheek will have an influence. Print several sizes or
resize and test.
B. Weather conditions, particularly wind
C. Need to mount an optic at the charging handle end of the picatinny rail for large and
extra-large sizes

Filament. I used “standard” PLA but you might want to use another type such as ABS, PETG, or carbon based depending on use case and environmental conditions.
