The Bunk Bed Castle is a compact 3D printed outpost for toy figures with a height of 72 mm.

It is designed to be attached to the railing of a bunk bed.

The railing board must not be thicker than 19 mm.

The Bunk Bed Castle can also be used as a "normal" outpost for playing on the floor.

The Bunk Bed Castle is completely 3D printed.

The only thing you may need to purchase is two 4x20 mm SPAX screws to secure the castle firmly to the railing (not using the screws allows you to slide the castle freely on the railing board what turned out to be a significant advantage).

Materials

β€’ FDM 3D printer with a heated bed of at least 180 x 180 mm
β€’ ideaMaker 4.2.1 or later
β€’ PLA filament (or any other)
β€’ Bunk Bed with a railing board with a thickness of 19 mm (optional)
β€’ 2 pcs. 4x20 mm SPAX (for the US: No. 8 3/4” wood screws) (optional)
β€’ CA glue
β€’ Precision files, sanding paper, Phillips screw driver (optional)

3D printing settings

For printing the Bunk Bed Castle, the free slicer ideaMaker 4.2.1 and a Raise3D Pro2 printer were used.

It is highly recommended to use this slicer, but any other slicing software may be sufficient.

A well calibrated and levelled printer should be sufficient for printing as long as the bed size is not smaller than 180 x 180 mm (the largest part – the ladder – has a size of 32.5 x 169.4 x 8.0 mm).

The design is optimized for 3D printing with a layer height of 0.2 mm.

For the purpose of strength and durability, printing all elements with an extrusion width of 0.4 mm, wall thickness of 5 shells, bottom and top walls thickness of 5-6 layers, and infill of 25-30% is recommended.

It takes about 4-7 days to print all parts (depending on the 3D printer).
