3D model description

Agitator Dog For Kenmore, Whirlpool, Roper and other American style washing machines with ratcheting agitator action.

This is my version designed to be cut on a laser cutter since the 3d printer couldn't make the teeth sharp enough to catch.

Lets face it, these are too cheap online to bother making your own. ( They less than $3 on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/80040-Agitator-Dogs-4-Pack/dp/B001DHLKT4... or <$7 if you want Prime) That said, I did it anyway because I didn't want to wait and because I had a 3d printer.

I tried this (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:57850/) design by PropellerScience, but was unable to get my reprap to make the teeth sharp enough to catch.

It then donned on me that my laser cutter can make the detailed cuts necessary for this. So I took the design above, sliced it and saved to dxf for my laser cutter cam software.

3D printing settings

I used 3mm thick clear acrylic, though I was tempted to use Deralin but the sheets I had were very thin (and expensive compared to Acrylic).

Original dogs were about 9mm tall, so you'll need 3 layers of 3mm acrylic for each of the 4 dogs.

I don't expect acrylic to last all that long, but it has worked well for the last dozen loads.
