About

This is a motor mount replacement for ZOHD Nano Talon EVO. I designed this to be robust and to allow replacement whenever the mount breaks or gets damaged.

Hardware

You need:
* 1 x M3 5x5 mm threaded insert
* 1 x M3 x 20 mm screw

Assembly

To assemble it on the plane, you need no glue. You can, however, glue the Motor Base if you want, but that won't allow you to replace it easily in case it breaks.

Prepare the Motor Mount by attaching the threading insert and then screw the motor in.

Attach the Motor Base to the plane's tail, insert the assembled Motor Mount and lastly, insert the plastic Pin. The Pin will lock the motor base in place, so make sure you insert the it at the end of the assembly. Then, use the 20mm M3 screw to lock the motor mount to the Pin, and you're done!

Printing

In terms of materials, you can use PLA or PETG.

Print this with 40-50% infill, 3-4 wall lines to ensure a thick shell. Print it slowly to ensure good lamination between Z layers. You can use 0.1, 0.15, or 0.2 mm layer height. I printed mine with 0.2mm layer height.

Make sure the Motor Mount has a tight fit with the base, and if it doesn't adjust "Horizontal Expansion" and "Hole Horizontal Expansion" in Cura to make them fit nicely. The Motor Base is designed to mitigate the "elephant foot' effect so you don't need to modify "Initial Layer Horizontal Expansion".

The design adds a 0.3 mm tolerance between components that fit, so don't adjust these to very high values. For the "Horizontal Expansion" I used -0.15mm and for "Hole Horizontal Expansion" -0.1mm, but tune yours appropriately.

No support is needed.

Enjoy!
