3D model description

This is a replica of Jiang Cheng's artifact weapon, Zidian. I used official merch as reference.

Cosplay size:
"handle" is the main part and requires supports to print.
"zidian half" is only half of the model which you would need to print twice and glue back to back, that way no supports are required.
"mid1" and"mid2" should ALWAYS be printed as a pair. I separated them so that mid1 can be printed without supports and for easier and sturdier assembly.
"tip" is the last piece of the whip and should only be printed once.
"connector" are the small circles that connect the mid parts to the handle, tip, and to each other. They can be replaced by metal key rings if you prefer not to print them.
Print one connector for each mid1+mid2 pair. Print one connector for the tip.

The reference showed 8 mid parts, but you can print as many as you want to make the whip longer or shorter. Just make sure to check your local events rules regarding how long toy whips can be, so you don't get into trouble!

"mini" is a miniature version of the handle suitable for Barbie or Monster High dolls. Replace the whippy flexible bits with beads on a string, they are too tiny to print and also be functional.

Assembly:
The "connector" are circles with tiny openings. Dunk one in hot water and while it is malleable, insert it through the hole in the thicker end of the mid1 parts (and the tip). Dunk into hot water and allow it to naturally return to its original shape. Insert mid2 through the connector, then use 2-part epoxy to glue the long bits of mid2 into the slots of mid1.
Connecting the first mid1 to the handle will require dunking the connector in hot water twice, once for each piece.

3D printing settings

I would recommend printing the "mid1", "handle" and "tip" parts in 0.2 layer height. "tip" requires some support. Print these vertically for minimal cleanup.
"zidian half" should be printed horizontally for no supports, recommended 0.1mm layer height
If you want to print these in resin, make sure to hollow the parts in your slicer of choice.
"mid2" and "connector" should be printed horizontally, with supports to make them sturdier.

"mini" should be printed in resin, default settings work fine for me in that size.
