Caule is a tiny element made in additive manufacturing that allows to attach a test tube to the wall, elevating it from a mere technical artifact to a real styling accessory capable to completely change the appearance of a vertical surface, both indoors and outdoors. The project consists of a small, minimal element with a sober and rational shape and extremely intuitive use: just drill a hole in the wall, screw Caule to the wall and insert the test tube inside it: the shape of the support will ensure that the test tube can be easily extracted to be filled or cleaned without having to disassemble any part.

Caule’s large contact surface on the wall allows it to be affixed vertically even with double-sided adhesive tape on all the vertical surfaces that are not plastered: glass, mirrors, furniture doors, doors, etc., making Caule a small, extremely versatile and transversal accessory.

The philosophy behind the project was the desire to fragment and dematerialize the classic and boring bouquet in a centerpiece vase, scattering it and projecting it on the wall in an explosion of single flowers that will decorate an area of the house that rarely hosts plant life: the wall. Caule is therefore an object strongly dependent on its content, which with discretion almost disappears, leaving maximum emphasis on what you choose to exhibit inside. It can be used individually, but it also coexists very well with other wall accessories such as photographs, mirrors, paintings and clocks. It gives its best when used in series, generating suggestive green and flowery compositions, ironic, light and certainly capable of instilling a pinch of poetry in any environment.

Caule is suitable for standard ø20mm test tubes, easily purchaseable online for few cents.

3D printing settings

Caule is designed to be printed out of PLA material, having taken into account the technology and the way how the object is actually printed.

The design avoids using any support material and uses as little material as possible. The model was created in Rhinoceros 7.0 and can be printed by any 3D printing software without any specific requirement.

Suggested settings:
• 0.2 mm to 0.4 mm Nozzle
• 25% infill
• No support
• High cooling.

You need to adopt the best retraction setting possible depending on your 3Dprinter. The file is suitable also for SLS/SLA 3D printing.
