3D model description

This design birthed from my frustrations of using the apple pencil and yet have to use my fingers to swipe to unlock and to manipulate some apps. I have use third party pens that have 2 functions but does not have the accuracy, reaction time and sensitivity of the apple pencil. I have sat on it for awhile but finally decided to come up with something that is workable for me.

I have tried it on my iPad Pro and it works fine. Magnetic charging of the apple pencil still works well with the cap on.

The only small tweaks that need to be done is that you will need to get hold of an existing touch screen stylus pen (I have attached a photo of the stylus I used) or a very cheap one, remove the rubber contact and attach it to the tip of the cap and secure it with a conductive tape (shown in the photos). The reason for the conductive tape is because there is a need for a small electrical relay for it to work.

The entire design is printable other than the touch screen rubber and the conductive tape.

Filament Used: Prusament PLA filament Light blue

I printed the design with a Prusa i3 MK3s.

I hope this will help resolve some your little frustrations with the apple pencil as it did for me.

I have attached stl files for pencils with silicone protection and without. Please choose the right file to print.

Happy printing
