New Orleans Jazz Age Skyscrapers

New Orleans Jazz Age Skyscrapers 3D print model

Description

This bundle contains the two tallest buildings of Jazz-era New Orleans: the Hibernia Bank Building and the National American Bank Building. Both located in the heart of NOLA's Central Business District along Carondelet Street, the buildings towered over the Crescent City for decades.

The Hibernia Bank Building is 355ft (108m) tall. Designed by architecture firm Favrot and Livaudais, the Neoclassical building once housed the headquarters of the now-defunct Hibernia Bank. At the time of its completion in 1921, it was the tallest building in New Orleans and the state of Louisiana until the construction of the State Capitol Building in Baton Rouge just a decade later. The building remains a prominent piece of the city's skyline with its distinct monumental design and brightly-lit white cupola.

The National American Bank Building is 330ft (101m) tall. This Art Deco skyscraper formed the second peak of the city's skyline. Completed a few years later in 1929, the building also features a later architectural style designed by Moise Goldstein. Utilizing dramatic setbacks, clean vertical lines, and a dazzling finishing topper, the tower shares many of the elements that so familiarly characterize the Art Deco era of skyscrapers. Today, the building is sometimes referred to simply as 200 Carondelet St.
