Transformers Ironfist from IDW The Wreckers

Transformers Ironfist from IDW The Wreckers 3D print model

Description

Ironfist, reporting for duty among the latest recruits to the famed Wreckers squad! A longtime fan of the team, this plucky little bot plays a much larger role in their adventures than he could ever have imagined.

He has been designed to be as articulated as possible, to allow for greater pose-ability, and even handstands are possible~

Ironfist in his vehicular alt mode features a 5mm port on the roof for attaching other accessories too.

=== TRANSFORMATION === Within the picture set is a quick pictorial guide on how Ironfist transforms.

First, rotate his head backwards to stow in his torso. Next, lift the roof piece away from the body and then rotate the groin piece 90 degrees backwards. From here, rotate the heel piece (which is initially extended in bot mode for balance) back into place, and then rotate the leg 180 degrees about the knee to fit it over the thigh piece.

The foot piece will need to be rotated 90 degrees to tuck away too. Do this for both legs, then lower the roof piece back down, and it should fit snugly over the toe pieces of the leg.

From here, the last step would be to bend the arms at the elbows, and then rotate the arms using the shoulder joints to fit into the space between the torso and the leg, under the roof piece.

=== ASSEMBLY === This kit comes with a fair number of parts so attached here also is a diagram to show what they are, and where they all go. Only one arm and one leg has been shown for clarity.

Some things to note:

  • All pegs which are used to connect the pieces have been provided, but these could be replaced but either 5mm or 3mm pegs or plastic rods cut to length.
  • The neck piece is to be connected to the main torso using a piece of 1.75mm filament.
  • If the joints or other fitted pieces may be too tight due to variances in 3d printers, they can be sanded down to fit. Where they are too loose, they can be coated with some nail polish before being fitted together.
  • There are two versions/approached to the Groin piece, depending on how you would prefer the Roof to attach on - (1) the Groin_withLift piece allows the roof piece to be linked to the body using the RoofSlide while (2) the singular Groin piece allows for a removable roof piece with a glued-on peg cut to length to be used.

As shown in our photos, our version of Ironfist was actually painted before assembly and in hindsight, this created fit and paint rubbing issues in the final piece. Would recommend pieces be printed in the final colors if possible to avoid these issues :)

=== So there we go - Ironfist reporting for duty, and falling in with his Wrecker buddies!

Boy was this one of the most challenging pieces we've done in a while - so here's hoping that everyone enjoys 3d printing, assembling and adding Ironfist to your collections! =)
