3D model description

This is a layout for making a 170mm high single digit LED display. I use these to create the digits for my wall clocks. 10 standard 5mm (T1 3/4) LEDs are used for each segments (a total of 80 LEDs per digit).

I've also included a design for a small single-sided board that you can use to easily wire up your individual segments.

3D printing settings

Cut out of wood or plastic, glue in LEDs, and wire up as appropriate.

If you're using the segment boards, populate them before putting them in the layout. They're designed to run off of 5V, which is why it's set up as five parallel sets of two LEDs in series. (That's why we need five resistors-- to keep the current stable.) I run the segments off of serial-in current-limited drivers; use whatever seems easiest to you.
