3D model description

Realization of a storage box for memory media, inspired by the shape of bread boxes, with sliding lid.

The box has 6 SD slots, 6 Micro-SD slots and a "bulk" space for USB flash drives!

Modeled in three parts:

  • The Box;

  • The Slide;

  • The Slide Block.

When assembling, you will need to place the slide block in the grooves provided, and help a little for the first insertion, pushing it all the way in.

You can then glue the "Slide Block" part, with a pvc glue. (Avoid glues and extra-strong glues that leave a demarcation when cooling!)

And that's it! Once the drying is done, you can store your various supports! :-)

3D printing settings

The parts are placed in the direction of printing.

I insist on the following print settings, if you don't want to struggle with media removal!

  • Slide and Slide Block Settings:

Layer height: 0.20 mm;

Wall thickness: 2 mm;

Density of Filling: 100%.

Printing Temperature: 210°C (depending on filament);

Tray Temperature: 60°C (depending on filament);

Printing Speed: 80 mm/s;

First Layer Speed: 10 mm/s;

Number of Slower Layers: 2.

Adhesion of the Plateau: None (If possible)

  • Box parameters:

Layer Height: 0.20 mm;

Initial Layer Height: 0.24 mm;

Wall thickness: 2 mm;

Filling density: 10%;

Filling Pattern: Gyroid;

Printing Temperature: 210°C (depending on filament);

Tray Temperature: 60°C (depending on filament);

Printing Speed: 80 mm/s;

First Layer Speed: 10 mm/s;

Number of Slower Layers: 2;

Generate Supports: yes;

Positioning Supports : Everywhere;

Cantilever Angle: 55° (Not less, or some of the supports will be inaccessible! It doesn't matter!)

Support pattern: Zig Zag;

Density Support: 5%;

Enable media border: yes;

Support border width: 5 mm;

X/Y distance of supports: 1.4 mm;

Enable Support Interface: yes;

Interface density Support: 15%;

Support Adhesion Pattern: Triangles*;

Tray Adhesion : 10mm border.

(*) The "Triangles" patterns allow for easier removal of the supports.

Personally I remove the bulk of the backing by hand and with a fairly thin flat screwdriver, and then use a scalpel to cut and scrape off the residue of the contact layer!

A blow with a flashlight lighter (light and fast!!!) or a hot air gun, will allow you to "smooth" the layer underneath.
