3D model description

These are various firearm cartridges designed to spec. I got the dimensional specs from Wikipedia pages and reloading manuals. The ones I've tested have been accurate enough to chamber, though they all fit very tightly.

Naturally, the extractor rim doesn't fair well when printed in PLA. It fails 100% of the time due to the tight chambering. If you slightly scale the model in the XY directions (1-3%), you could probably get them to fit loosely enough to keep the rims intact.

I left a primer pocket in each cartridge so you can fill it with soft material if you want to use these as snap caps. I would not recommend fitting an actual primer. ;-)

There is one significant concession to printability: none of the cases are chamfered at the bottom (head). That makes them a little tricky to feed in some guns, and makes the rims look slightly thicker than the real deal.

The spitzer-point bullets are modeled with R10 tangent ogives and a meplat diameter of around 1.5mm. Round-nose bullets, I just eye-balled the nose.

I've got parametric models for most common case/bullet styles at this point, so if there's a cartridge you want, drop me a message. I'll probably be adding more as I get bored.
