3D model description

This is my first 3D model done in SolidWorks! I wanted to learn how to CAD model since getting a 3D printer so this is a learning experience and practical since there is nothing minidisc related on Thingiverse. It's an adapter for my Sony MZ-R90 and MZ-R900 minidisc players so I can build an external AA battery box (the internal Ni-MH batteries are getting old and have less capacity compared to a AA). Commercially available adapters can be purchased online but cost way too much for what boils down to plastic and bits of metal so why not make my own.

This is a work in progress so I will update this post as it progresses (I plan on adding a top piece, making the bottom a tad thicker, and adding a thumb screw piece to make it easily removable). I've also provided the Solidworks file in case someone wants to modify it for their own project.

Added the models I made for the internal NH-14WM Ni-MH and a AA battery that might be useful in the future.

//UPDATE//
I increased the thickness of the bottom base to make it more resilient, and added a cutout for the thumb screw mechanism. Also designed the thumb screw wheel with grips and top plate to complete the entire assembly. STL and SolidWorks models for the entire project are uploaded. I'm rather happy with how my first 3D model assembly has come out in less than a day but time will tell if I got all the features and dimensions correct!
