"As the batallion advanced through the city, we eventually reached the former position our enemy had occupied. The heavy siege cannons of our Charlemagnes had reduced the entire market to rubble, with only a few fragments of jagged metal to suggest that a bustling city square had once stood here. It was then that I first caught sight of our enemy. The proud elf warrior was half buried in debris, his body broken beneath the fallen concrete roof of a local eatery. From the roof hatch of my transport I could see he still lived, struggling weakly to extricate himself. One of the troopers following us raised his rifle to put the alien out of its misery, but Sergeant Greiss raised his hand and gestured toward our tank escort, Sword of Intolerance. Without a word, the iron beast trundled forward, aligning its right track with the wounded elf. The fallen warrior redoubled his efforts, his fingers scrabbling at the stones and rebar that trapped his shattered legs. He pleaded with us in his alien tongue, presumably for mercy, but even if we had understood him it was futile. Sword of Intolerance crunched over his body with all the grace of an ox trampling grass, and The Empire had won another battle.
