3D model description

This design is for a floor lamp that has a switch on the floor lamp's shaft. Some floor lamp mechanical switches can break due to a thin flange on their inner shaft that can break over time (this thin flange is held on the inside of the lamp switch's retaining nut). This flange is what keeps the lamp's on/off switch attached to the lamp. Switch Knob Part 2 of 2 for Floor Lamp replaces the part that has a broken flange. Use this part with "Switch Knob Part 1 of 2" for Floor Lamp - this part is also available on Thingiverse. "Switch Knob Part 1 of 2 for Floor Lamp" is the cap for this part.

3D printing settings

You should print this with 1.5 mm filament.

Print both parts for this project (1 of 2 and 2 of 2).

Unscrew the nut that retains the lamp's on/off switch. Put part 2 of 2 into the plastic lamp on/off switch. Replace the nut on the lamp Γ’β‚¬β€œ this holds on part 2 of 2. Place part 1 of 2 onto part 2 of 2.

Tolerances should allow for both parts to have a tight fit. However some sanding or reaming may be needed to get the parts to fit together.

The Switch Knob Part 1 of 2 for Floor Lamp part may have to be epoxied to Switch Knob Part 2 of 2 for Floor Lamp. Use plumbers two part epoxy putty if the space between both parts is too great after sanding. Five minute epoxy dried overnight should glue part 1 of 2 and 2 of 2 together well.
