3D model description

These modular desktop organiser units have been specifically designed to print in ‘vase mode’ to allow for very fast printing and low filament usage, whilst maximising strength.

They are ideal for storing small tools and stationary, and would look great on the desk or workbench of any engineer, maker or hobbyist, helping to keep your workspace tidy and well organised. They also make great drawer organisers if placed horizontally.

Due to the speed at which each unit can be printed, a large set can be produced in very little time and using only a small amount of filament. A 3-shelf unit can easily be printed in a little over 3 hours using an entry-level 3D printer and significantly faster using a high-end machine.

The units can be connected together horizontally using the included joiner inserts for increased stability, or they can be used individually if preferred.

At launch, three and five shelf versions are available, both in widths of 55mm. Additional options may be added later if there is a demand for this. Each model requires a useable print bed area of at least 207mm x 207mm.

Update - 29th July 2023: I have added double-width versions (three and five shelf). Please note that the minimum build area required to print the double width versions is approximately 246mm x 246mm.

Update - 24th February 2023: I have added a smaller version of the (three shelf) organiser. This only requires a print bed area of 180x180mm, so is suitable for smaller 3D printers such as the Prusa Mini.

P.S. If anyone would like to post a photo of their prints, I would love to see them. :-)

3D printing settings

All models have been designed to print using ‘vase mode’ ('spiralize outer contour’ in Cura), so using default slicer settings will result in the models printing solid.

It is also possible to print the models in non-vase mode by using zero infill and zero top layers (which could be useful for printing multiple models at a time on the same build plate).

The models have been designed to print best using a 0.8mm line width.

I use a 0.32mm layer height and 30mm wall speed for these models, as I find this gives a good balance between print quality and speed.

No supports or infill are required.
