3D model description

The idea: A 3rd person action cam mount for fpv drones that comes 100% from the 3D printer. Easier said than done. Normally we use TPU for our mounts - but it is too soft or too heavy if we print it very stiff.

The solution: PLA filament. Easy to print, very stiff and strong. But: very fragile. Or? If we print PLA very flat we get an extremely good stability of the material.

The concept: The mount is printed in one piece on the printer very flat. Then the bending points (see pictures) are heated with a hair dryer and bent. This gives us an extremely tough mount that weighs very little (~24g).

Which FPV frames work?: just about all of them. The mount is placed on the back of the frame. It is secured by another strap and the lipo also sits on a piece of the mount. The mount has two cutouts at the back for an XT60 connector and possibly an antenna that extends out longer at the back.

The Download comes with a 120mm (suitabel for Ender3 print plates) and 190mm (suitable for Bambulabs print plates) mount.

The mount has a Flexmount adapter for my Flexmount system. I recommend using the Insta360go2 or Caddx-Peanut with the mount. For this you can download my vertical mount here.

3D printing settings

The Flexmount system is a fairly crash-resistant camera mount for fpv quads. However, the following points need to be respected:

#1 fly at your own risk. always ensure the camera-mount is safe enough for your needs!
#2 always print the brackets with 100% infill (no matter witch material) to make them as stiff & stable as possible
#3 mount a little too loose? try to change print settings (e.g. more flow...)
#4 mount not crash resistant enough? try to change the TPU (I pref the 3DJake-TPU)

Print the 3rd-Person Mount with the following settings:
Material: PLA
Hotend: 190-200 °C
Bed: 60 °C
Walls: 3x
infill: 20%
Bottom Layers: 2-3
Top Layers: 3-4
