3D model description

Welcome to Morocco!

This amazingly detailed model was created by MiniWorld 3D founder Dany Sánchez; available in:

  • Single color version
  • Fast, single color version
  • Multicolor version

The Sqala du Port is an artillery platform built in the 1770's in Mogador (today Essaouira), Morocco. It is one of the main fortifications of the city. Essaouira is located on the Atlantic coast, straight west of Marrakech, and had been inhabited through history by local Amazigh tribes, Phoenicians, Romans, Portuguese, a French occupation, and of course Moroccans.

The Sqala is located in the port of the city, right outside the walls. It is of Portuguese design, although commisioned by the Moroccan sultan of the time, and reusing stones from the demolished "Castelo Real" (Royal Castle), a 1500's fortress situated in the same location from the times when the Portuguese controlled the city. It has several cannons of Spanish and Dutch manufacture (from Wikipedia).

This is by far one of Essaouira's (as-Sawirah) most visited and photographed landmarks, as it hosts a lively fish market where the catch of the day is sold cheaply.

MiniWorld 3D is excited to bring this historical model to life as a homage to all the people of Essaouira. This model was designed from scratch, no scans or repurposed models, so it's pristine clean for 3D printing! Please give credit, it's all about spreading culture and education!
