3D model description

Welcome to Yucatán, Mexico!

The Ancient Ruins Collection - Mesoamerica presents: Chichén-Itzá

We continue The Ancient Ruins Collection--Mesoamerica, a dedicated subcollection to the legacy of past civilizations.

This model was created by MiniWorld 3D collaborator Artemio García (@artemiogj). This is available in two versions:

  • Actual state (ruins)

  • Hypothetical reconstruction

One of the New 7 Wonders of the World and one of Mexico's most recognizable landmarks, the Pyramid of Kukulkan / El Castillo is the main attraction of the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza and its archeological site.

It is located in the Yucatan state and peninsula, in southeastern Mexico. El Castillo ("the Castle" in Spanish) is the "nickname" given to the pyramid by the Spanish settlers and local people, after the original dedication to the Mayan God Kukulkan was forgotten.

Kukulkan was one of the most important gods of all Prehispanic cultures, equivalen to Quetzalcoatl in central Mexico. He was the feathered serpent and god of arts and wisdom.

The architectural style of this pyramid and all of Chichen Itza is of strking Toltec influence, so it looks different from other Mayan sites like Uxmal or Tikal. It has 4 staircases with 365 steps each, one for each day of the year. Every detail in this pyramid is by design and intentionally full of astronomical, religious, and philosophical significance.

MiniWorld 3D is excited to bring this historical model to life as a homage to all the people of Yucatan. This model was designed by collaborator Artemio García and is different from a previous design by Dan10105. Please give credit, it's all about spreading culture and education!
