3D model description

The BoltHammer is a compact 3D printed repeating crossbow pistol for 6,3 - 6,5 inch standard bolts with a quick exchangeable magazine for 5 bolts.

It was designed for sports and fun shooting and for people who enjoy 3D printing und building.

It can be powered by a standard crossbow arm or rubber bands (e.g. Thera Band).

The pistol can be build in different versions and equipped with attachments like picatinny rails for laser sight / flashlight / red dot or a short scope.

The design is optimized for a 300mmx300mm print bed

The assembly requires some skills, mechanical understanding and accuracy!

3D printing settings

  • The design is optimized for 3D printing with a layer height of 0.2 mm and a print bed of at least 300mm x 300mm!
  • All parts can be printed without any support structure!
  • The specified alignment / orientation of the parts on the print bed is crucial for later strength!
  • Preferred Materials for this print are PLA, PLA+ or PETG.
  • Some parts (e. g. Trigger, Lock and Lever Splint) are recommended to print with 100% infill.
  • For the best strength and durability, its recommend printing all parts with a wall thickness of 2.25 mm, bottom and top walls thickness of 1.2 - 1.6 mm and infill of at least 30%.
  • Its also recommend printing at a slightly higher hotend temperature than usual.
  • The 3D printer should be well calibrated (extruder steps, flowrate, first layer height).
  • It takes about 50 hours to print all parts (depends on the 3D printer, print settings and the building option you choose).
