The kit consists of the breastplate, suspenders and arm upgrade parts for this steadicam.
The steadicam arm supports 7kg, it's a bit tight for my smartgun which weighs 7,5kg, that's why I added some washers to the arm to tighten the spring a little more and have a little more margin .
Installing the parts on the arm limits the movement of the arm, but it is sufficient for handling the smartgun.
It is necessary to disassemble the arm in order to install the parts, be careful when tensioning the spring and make sure that all washers are in place to avoid looseness.
I have rotated joint 2 so that it faces upwards, so that the two central joints remain in the same position.
You have to cut the arm a little to fit the cover in the correct position, the bars have some recesses on the sides, one larger than the other, on the shorter side is where you have to cut to fit the cover. The cut must be made 52mm from the end and 37.5mm from the bottom.
I have changed the adjustment wheels for smaller and lower ones, so it is necessary to cut the screw so that the new wheels are glued to the joint, I have also marked with a bit the place where the screw tightens to improve the grip.
I have replaced all the original arm bolts with M5x16 countersunk bolts.
The screws in the center of the joint are to limit the travel of the arm , in the joint 2 and 4 have a threaded cylinder that passes from side to side , you have to cut it 3mm to fit the new parts . In the pieces of the joints 2 and 4 in one of the sides has the hole of greater diameter so that this cylinder can be mounted, to cut it is necessary to use a screw a little shorter, and also have to be careful when tightening because it can split the printed piece.
The screws that hold the discs, covers and cable clamps are 4mm diameter sheet metal screws cut to 8mm in length.
The parts covering the central joint are screwed with M3x5 screws.
The screws that are mounted at the end of the covers are M6x16 with wide washers.
The suspenders are attached to the breastplate using M4x20 bolts and nuts.
To screw the breastplate I have removed four screws, the two upper ones from the upper part and the two lower ones from the base of the arm, I have drilled those same holes to make them through holes and to be able to put the screws on the back. The screws used are 4x40mm diameter, they are wood screws.
To screw the suspenders I mark on the steadicam the position of the brace and make another line with the width of the upper part of the brace, I make the hole so that it is centered in the widest part. I used 4x16 diameter screws.
The abdominal plate is placed on the lower guide and screwed with 4 M5 screws, so the guide is completely hidden, you can stick Velcro 50mm wide in the central part.
In the arm adjustments I have tilted the ball joints to the left to try to correct all the slack in the arm and make the smartgun horizontal.
So well I have made the parts of the quick release, the ring, clamp, cable guide and locking lugs.
I have changed the original straps for some made with safety belt, the lower one I have left it longer to reach the abdominal plate. At the top I have removed the snaps to leave space to mount the ring and the quick release cable. I have mounted it on the side so as not to lose the adjustment.
