3D model description

Following my publication of a grill-trap aimed at honeypots fitted with type 80A lids, I have been asked by many contributors to design this trap for type TO82 honeypots, which often seem to be the standard in France.

Warning, this trap is not compatible with type 80A jars (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/piege-a-frelons-pour-pot-de-miel-80a)!!!! Even though the jars appear to be identical in size, they are not compatible! What's more, the 80A has a single-entry net, whereas the moodèle TO82 has 6 nets, each with its own entry.

Like the original model, this one also features two "ears", giving the trap pot great stability and preventing it from rolling when placed on a flat surface. The height of the "ears" ensures that the liquid or semi-solid bait stays in place in the bottom of the pot without running out.

The trap can also be suspended from a branch or support using rigid wire held in the front in the hole of one of the ears and in the back by a 2cm "slice" of mountain bike inner tube, which is pil-poil the right size!

All the oblong holes in the trap are 5mm wide to allow all the other insects to "escape". The entry hole for Asian hornets is either 8mm or 9mm in diameter, depending on the file chosen (the diameter is engraved on one of the lid lugs).

The trap is designed to optimize grid weight and printing time. The grid takes 1h33 to print on an MK3S with the "standard" setting under PrusaSlicer and weighs just 21gr, i.e. over 45 printable traps with a 1Kg PETG spool.

The .stl files are designed with walls optimized for 300µm printing, 0.4mm nozzle on PrusaSlicer slicer and without any support.

I strongly advise you to print this trap in PETG for both its UV resistance and its "softer" mechanical properties.
