3D model description

The Ballast Tank by Maximus-Modellbau was designed to get an easy access to static diving submarines. With the tank system, you are able to get a well trimmed submarine without moving of the center of gravitiy during the diving/Surfacing.

The idea of the diving bag system enclosed in a module is based on the idea of equipping the unit with a limit switch. This prevents the tank from overfilling. A limit switch is installed for this purpose on the front. The switch is a button that breaks the circuit of the pump at the maximum level.

You can use the files for submarines for max. one meter in length. There are files to use the system also for smaller subamrines. Four setups are possible.

The files are also including the parts for our famous Maximus I-III pumps. You can use them without the container together with a single diving bag. This is the solution for very small spaces in the pressure hull.

A detailled manual is included and a link list for needed stuff. The files are in the STL-format. The pump drum is a Step-File. With this you are able to change the tolerances if your printer is not well calibrated.

3D printing settings

The parts should be printed with 0.2mm layer height.

PETG is recommended as the ballast tank material. PLA can become soft in relation to the the Maximus III pump during continuous operation because the pump gets too warm for the material.

100% should be selected as the infill.

Support structure is only necessary on the drum of the Maximus I pump.

If the print bed adhesion is poor, a brim should be used.

The hose connectors should be made with a resin printer. If necessary, 3mm tubes should serve the same purpose.
