3D model description

I was considering a rigid heddle loom as my first loom when I got the idea of learning to weave. But ordering a rigid heddle from abroad will really be expensive. With a 3D printer, I can print as many plates I want depending on the weaving width I am aiming for. Printing four plates will give me about 12 inches of effective weaving width. I made each plate around 3 inches of weaving width so that it will not be so much of waste in case of printing failure or if the heddle is damaged, it will be easy and cheap to replace compared to replacing a bigger heddles.

Mounting hole: M3 bolt

Dimensions:
Slot height: 100mm
Slot width: 1.8mm

Eye height: 10mm
Eye width: 1.8mm

Blade width: 1.8mm

Top & Bottom height: 8mm

Total Dimensions:
Length: 86.4mm
Height: 116mm
Depth: 4.6mm

One plate is about 3 inches of weaving width. You can print as many as you want depending on the weaving width you are aiming for.

You need to provide a frame in which to mount the heddles. When I made my frame, I made the slot in which the heddle slides into about 10mm deep. This way, I am sure the warps will rest on the frame and not at the actual heddle.

It will be a pain to remove, and you will waste lots of time making the edges smooth so the yarns will not snag. I avoided using glue because it might make it difficult to remove and I might damage the heddle in the process.
