3D model description

This is a simple button box I made for a friend.

It is designed after the cheap buttons from aliexpress, has a hole the Arduino's USB C to stick out. I recommend hot gluing the Arduino in place. it a top plate that is meant to be dis assembled to get access to the inside and the two mounting holes.

The two holes on the back are 8mm in diameter, and fit most alu. rigs, if the hole is too big then just use spacers.

What you will receive

  • 3 STL files, 1 box and 2 lids
  • Arduino Code for Pro Micro (no rotaries)

If you don't know how to wire the buttons then follow AMstudio's video on youtube, there it is clearly explained.

Remember to download the joystick library for the Arduino IDE.

Part list for the button box

  • STL files ;)
  • Arduino Pro Micro
  • 4x M3 screws
  • Buttons with mounted diameter of 12mm (all cheap aliexpress buttons)
  • Hot glue gun (to fix mount Arduino, wires, etc)

< Optional >
- cheap vinyl (Aliexpress) or use fuzzy skin

3D printing settings

Printed in Black PLA on an Ender 3 V2
10% infill
5 walls
printed with a layer height of 0.4mm and nozzle width of 0.2
Print time on my printer was approx.
BOX - 18H 22M
LID - 6H 1M (Remember to flip the lid before printing)

Creality K1 print times:

Box 4H30M
Lid: 1H6M

The box is very sturdy with these settings. Although, since it is not a structural piece you have a bit of freedom in terms of slicer settings.

There is a 0.4mm offset between the top plate and box, so a little room for 3d printing error.

Since i made the post on cults i have reprinted the box with a Fuzzy skin effect from cura/creality slicer (similar on prusa, bambu and orca slicers) and a spring steel pei sheet that give the box a really nice look and hides the 3d printed artifacts.

REMEMBER to change the fuzzy skin density to something smaller like 1.25 otherwise it will not look good.

I added a picture of the box reprinted with fuzzy skin for those that done want to deal with vinyl.
