3D model description

This is a take on the floating shelf idea, but for books. Angled, in order to hold a book with the least amount of contact. The shelf is designed at exactly a 45deg angle.

If mounting on drywall, it is best to target one of the mounting holes to land over a wall stud, and than use a butterfly anchor for the other. We chose to lean one edge on a cabinet because of where we had space to install it.

3D printing settings

As designed, the part size is 285mm x 280mm, but it is easily scalable in your slicer to fit your printer and/or books. For heavier books, it may be prudent to scale the 280mm down; moving center-of-mass closer to the wall. Less books, but stronger hold. If you are putting more weight on it, you could do a couple of things to reduce sag:
-Increase infill, and choose a pattern with triangles. I did 40%, rectilinear.
-Pick a more rigid filament. PLA, ABS, and ASA are good options. PLA is more rigid than the other two, but you should up the infill to ensure strength and maybe print a little hotter to increase later adhesion. Anything that is Carbon Fiber filled is a good option (chopped, not powdered). Plain (non-filled) PETG and Nylon are not good options as they want to bend or droop.
-Print with thicker layers
-No supports necessary
This took me about 13hrs to print, at 0.44mm layer height with a 0.6mm nozzle.
