This is an educational toy with which both blind and visually impaired people and sighted people can play and train the Braille reading and writing system.

The Braille has a cell or box in which are combined, up to 6 points, in different ways that give rise to letters, numbers, punctuation marks...

The braille spinner is composed of three cubes that rotate around a central axis, thus giving rise to those 6 dots.

Each of the cubes has on its faces one, two or no dots protruding from the face that will allow reading the character to be written or the letter to be learned.

It is advisable to print one of the cubes in a different color (or in a different material: filament with wood for example) to be able to concentrate on two cubes to learn the numbers and the first ten letters of this alphabet.

Thanks to the Spinner-Braille we can make the learning process more bearable for blind people or people with hypovision, we will have fun playing with friends or family and we will favor a moment of fun and learning. 3D printing settings

It can be printed to any size you want, but keep in mind that we must insert 3 bearings into the design.

For 22mm bearings I scaled the design (outside) to 37% With this configuration, the outside of the cube is 32.9mm between the dotted faces. By stacking the 3 cubes, the total height of the toy is 50mm.

As for the inside, my bearings have an inner diameter of 8.2mm so the design is perfect to be 100% printed The inner bar should grip the bearings, so I advise to get it just right (better sand a little bit)

In my case, I printed it with:

  • 0.4 nozzle.

  • 15% infill (although underfill would also work).

  • No negative horizontal expansion.

  • I have put supports (but depending on the printer they will not be necessary).

To finish, I have left a hole in the design to attach a key ring. The idea is to be able to hook it from the finger to make it easier to read or write the letters, numbers.... Enjoy!
