Tank turret for the early WW2 era, 5-turret Soviet T-35 "Land Fortress" tank. The model kit includes three turrets:

  • Main turret equipped with 76mm gun and DP-27 machine gun
  • Secondary turret equipped with 37mm gun (print twice)
  • Tertiary turret equipped with machine gun (print twice)

History

In the 1920's and 30's, many countries experimented with the concept of a multiturret tank. The soviet T-35 was the only 5-turret tank to reach serial, if limited, production. With turrets copied off of other soviet tanks (the T-28 and BT-5), the T-35 came equipped with a veritable arsenal: A 76mm main gun on the main turret, as well as a DP-27 machine gun. An additional two 37mm guns on the two secondary turrets, and finally two machineguns in two separate machine gun turrets. Nevertheless, poor design and mechanical defects made the T-35 a limited capacity tank. Due to its massive presence it was commonly used for progaganda purposes, but it fared poorly when put to the test at the outset of operation Barbarossa during World War 2. Of the 48 T-35s in combat ready condition, the majority was lost due to mechanical failure rather than enemy fire.

This model kit is part of an ongoing series, tentatively called Tank Turrets Through The Ages. The idea is to design era-defining tank turrets from their first inception up to modern day. The turrets will eventually be compiled into a megapack that provides a comprehensive and historically accurate set of turrets, for you to use in your tabletop miniature wargames. This product description will be updated with links to other turrets in the series as I design and publish them.

3D printing settings

Intended for print in 28mm scale.
Models are all prescaled to approximately 28mm scale.
Relatively high printer settings are recommended (0,08 mm layer height, 20 percent infill).
Printing time depends entirely on hardware, selected size, selected model(s) selected settings et cetera. A rough estimate is 30 minutes printing time for a single model at default scale.

No models are presupported. If getting presupported models are important to you, you can contact me and I'll include presupported versions in the product
