3D model description

I upgraded my Bronco with new motors and props for better performance. Here is the RCG thread and a video if anyone wants to see what the upgrades can do for the plane:

For anyone interested in doing the same upgrade on their plane, here is information on the upgrades I installed (these are NOT affiliate links):

The motors I used are the FLASH HOBBY Brushless Motor D3548 900KV Outrunner Motor. These are a very generic motor and can be found on Aliexpress, BangGood, etc:

I swapped out the stock props for slightly larger 3-Blade - 11x7 Propeller by Master Air Screw. I suspect you could use the stock props and get similar performance, but the stock spinner assembly won't work on the motor/prop shaft of the new motors, which is why I designed this new backplate and went with the larger, more scale props.

I also upgraded the ESCs with some 60A units I had in my toolbox. It's overkill for sure, but it's what I had on hand. I need to do a test with my meter to find out how many amps the new setup is using. My guess is ~40A. I will confirm when I have the chance and will post the number here.

I feel like the key element here are the 3D printed spinners I designed. I made these so they're held in place with 3 small screws and the design allows the spinner to be attached without the need for the center screw hole in the prop shaft, like the stock setup has. The design was made specifically with the 3548 motor and 11x7 MAS prop in mind. The clearance from the spinner to cowling is absolutely minimal (about 1mm). So if used on a different motor/prop shaft, some slight scaling in the Z axis may be necessary when printing the backplate to get the clearance just right for your setup. Overall, I'm happy with my design so far and it lasted two flights with lots of WOT without failure. So....yay.

I want to help out other hobbyists, so I don't charge for my designs. However, if you like my designs and found this helpful, a tip is always appreciated. Tips can be sent to: http://paypal.me/sukotto88
