3D model description

Selective Entry - Bottle Trap - Asian Hornet

This part allows you to inexpensively craft traps out of plastic soda bottles.
These traps must be selective in order to restrict their capture fields to the single category of insects hunted.

The selectivity of traps of this type is ensured for the Asian hornet by a restricted entry with an entry diameter of around 8 mm and a possible exit through a hole of around 6 mm.

This entry uses the well-known form of the part available on commercial sites, but the selectivity of which is not sufficient.
Indeed their entrance hole is 10mm in diameter which is too large because it allows European hornets (Vespa crabo) to pass through which must be preserved because of its positive work for nature, unlike the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) usually smaller in size, classified as harmful and therefore to be destroyed.

The entry diameter of this piece is therefore calibrated to allow the capture of Asian hornets without risk for the largest insects.
In order to allow the smallest insects to exit which would also have entered for taste, this entry must be associated with a selective exit that you will find there: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5931590

Obviously it is also possible to drill 6mm holes in the bottle which is tedious, and not very effective in reality.

The piece is printed in PETG to withstand the outdoors.
It prints calibrated output side up and therefore requires supports.

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5931590
