Midnight Dreams Moon Fairy Suncatcher Stained-Glass Home & Garden Decor

The legend of the fae creatures goes back many centuries. Its origins span ancient tales of folklore among Celtic, English, French, and other European cultures. These mythical creatures are said to spread happiness (fairies) and mischief (faeries). Our Midnight Dreams Moon Fairy perches comfortably upon the celestial body, watching over the night, seeking to grant the wishes of the pure of heart.

The Moon Fairy Sun Catcher makes a delightful addition to any garden. It also makes great window decor. Place her anywhere the sunlight shines. The suncatcher is double-sided with ultra-thin inner panels to mimic the luminescence of real stained glass decorations. If you have a glass printer bed, we highly recommend using it to get that beautiful, shiny surface effect.

CUSTOMIZING YOUR FAIRY MOON
This beautiful suncatcher is highly customizable. Each piece is provided as a separate STL File so that you can print the wings, dress, hair, and skin tone in any colors you wish. the Top and Bottom should be printed in Black. We chose to print the moon in Vanilla Cream (iiiDMax PLA+), but anything from white to light yellow will do. The wings look great when you use light and dark shades of the same color, which is why we split them into two files and labeled them (Light) and (Dark). We were very happy with the outcome using Navy Blue with Light Blue, and Forest Green with Fluorescent Green (see images).

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
There are a total of 8 STL Files in the ZIP file. Note the "WHOLE" file is just for display on Cults3D, and is not meant for printing. See images above for instructions with pictures.

Each inner section has been carefully rendered to fit like a puzzle piece into the recessed areas of the "Bottom". They are ultra-thin and should only print 2-layers thick (at 0.12 Layer Height). This is important to ensure a translucent print, and that light is able to illuminate softly through the other side. I also encourage printing in "Silk" filaments if you have them. They are less translucent, but the shine is fantastic.

Inserting the colors is as easy as piecing together a child's puzzle. It should be very easy to tell what goes where. Use tiny dots of glue to secure each of these in place.

Next, add glue to the underside of the Top section. Only use tiny dots, but a lot of them for a good hold. Then line up the Top section over the Bottom and gently press them together. Use clips or clothes pins to hold the pieces together and allow ample time to dry. I like to use fishing line and/or a small keyring to hang them.

Fully assembled, the stained glass cardinal indoor / outdoor window decor measures:

X = 15.7cm / 6.2in
Y = 22.4cm / 8.8in
Z = 0.35cm / 0.14in

Note that the total height exceeds the size of a standard printer bed. We've rotated the Top and Bottom STL Files to fit snugly on a 220x220 print surface.

MIDDLE PIECES (Dress, Hair, Moon, Skin, Wings)
These pieces must print very thin to remain slightly translucent. They are only 0.24mm thick. Use the following settings to ensure they print in just two layers.

Infill: Doesn't matter, it will print at 100% anyway.
Speed: 40mm/s
Supports: No
Plate Adhesion: None

Tip: If you're having trouble printing these smoothly, try using Cura's 'Enable Ironing' setting. It takes a little longer to print, but the nozzle will go back over the top layer to smooth it out, just like you would iron clothing to remove wrinkles.
