3D model description

Update April 1st, 2023: I updated the design to be even slimmer (33.5mm OD, see v6 and v7 parts) and a different surface texture.

I've been looking for a mock suppressor that:
1. Looks long but doesn't add too much to the overall length of the gun.
2. Slim but also fits a tracer unit.
3. Provides easy access to the tracer unit for charging.

I had an Acetech Brighter-C lying around so I made this design specifically to work with that model. This Brighter-C has built-in 14mm CCW threads so I can skip printing my own threads for the barrel.

To make it look long but not actually long, the threads for the barrel actually are in the middle of the mock suppressor. From that point to the front is the housing for the tracer unit, and everything after that point is just a sleeve over the barrel to make the mock suppressor look longer.

To make it as slim as possible, I took the core of the tracer out of its metal casing, and designed all the measurements based on the dimensions of the core.

The design is composed of 3 segments, the cap, the core and the tail.

The inner diameter of the core is just enough to fit the case-less tracer unit (25.78mm) and the base of the core is shaped to exactly fit the bottom of the tracer unit and has screw holes for the 3 screws from the tracer unit.

The overall diameter of the mock suppressor is 35.5mm, and the overall length is 142mm.

3D printing settings

Test printed with black PLA and 0.4mm nozzle with the mostly default PLA settings in BambuStudio.

I'm going to print everything in ASA or PETG for the actual thing I'd be using.

There are a lot of places with tight tolerances so your printer should have very good dimensional accuracy.
