Description
Etruscan civilization had a great importance and influence in domains of art and more specifically funerary art. Indeed, they largely implemented the custom of sculpting human figures on the lids of the sarcophagus. The lion also had a primary importance in their culture: the animal almost became a fantasy as they grew fascinated by it. Here both elements may be found: the attention laid upon the funerary art of the sarcophagus by ornating it with lions and other animals.
